Laser Northern Grand
Prix at WLYC
It was I lovely sunny day for the WLYC laser open.
This of cause meant little wind to start with, till the sea breeze kicked
in.
With the eventful time of
getting the boat down the beach and launching, the racing was postponed so all
competitors could get to the start line.
With all 3 races being raced back to back it was a test of the fittest. The
first race was closely run between Ian Jones of Dovestone and Rob Holmes of
Glasson, with Greg Marshall and Ed Thomas also giving chase.
The first race was won by Rob, then Ian taking second and Greg finishing
in 3rd place. The second race with a couple of general
recalls from the competitors pushing the line by the committee boat the racing
started with a clear break for the front from Ian again with Tom Keegan from
LLSC and Greg they swapped placed around the race with the end result being Ian
then Tom followed by Greg. The last race was raced in dying winds,
which led for, and interesting race. Ian made a break again along with Greg, Tom
and Ed.
It wasn’t long before Ian
took the lead followed by Greg, leaving tom and Ed to battle for 3rd
and 4th place.
In the end
Tom won out and took 3rd with Ed in 4th.
