BUYERS BEWARE FAKE LASER SAILS IDENTIFIED
A South Coast Laser sailor swapped some kit recently. One of the items he acquired was a Radial sail, which has turned out to be a fake. Not an identifiable replica, but a clear fake, with a Laser square patch at the tack. Full Report >>


   


Winsford Flash Sc  28th June
Eleven boats entered for the Winsford Flash open meeting on Sunday 28th June. Seven were home club boats, two came from Leigh & Lowton, one from West Lancs and one from Delph. Full Report >>


   


Yorkshire Dales SC 20th May
13 visitors joined the 10 home sailors at Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club’s inaugural Laser open meeting and were met by typically perfect conditions at Grimwith reservoir  Full Report >>


   


Yeadon Sc  17th May
The visiting competitors were friendly, the weather was not. Decidedly cool, intermittent rain, wind Easterly, gentle, not ideal for Yeadon Tarn. Full Report >>


   


Budworth Sc  10th May
The forecast was high pressure centred over Budworth and no wind but lots of people turned up anyway, waiting for a magic wand to provide the goods. By 12.00 the zephyrs dancing over the Mere joined together and by the time everyone was on the water there was a pleasant but shifty breeze which stayed all afternoon. Full Report >>


   


Pennine Sc  25h April
Despite the bank holiday, 15 boats gathered at Pennine Sailing Club on Saturday 2nd May (this rapidly dropped to 13, as minor injury put pay to sailing for 2 competitors). Full Report >>


   


Laser 12hr - West Lancashire Yacht Club 25h April
This race is unique as it requires a combination of endurance and team work the helm changing every couple of hours, which together with the rules, allowing rig changes, creates an interesting race of dedication, teamwork and commitment   Full Report >>


   


Delph SC 18h April
Delph Sailing Club, situated just on the West Pennine Moors just North of Bolton Lancashire, hosted the Laser class open in champagne sailing conditions. An Easterly wind of 12 knots coming over the dam wall on a day when bright blue azure skies were the conditions of the day made for a very .  Full Report >>


   


West Riding SC 5th April
27 boats entered the second leg of the Laser Northern Grand Prix Circuit at West Riding Sailing Club. The forecast was for sunshine but little wind as competitors turned up to see a glassy lake. Leigh & Lowton SC 28th October
Sunday dawned with little wind and a forecast to match. As the 39 laser sailors began to rig their boats in bright sunshine, their prayers were answered as the wind kicked in to a force two to three from the north west. Full Report >>


   


Ripon SC 22nd September
What a turnout! The Laser Open on Saturday 20 September at RSC saw a grand total of 29 boats – the largest turnout for a single event in the 2008 Northern circuit so far.

With 11 visitors joining 9 local sailors there was a good turn out for the Nantwich & Border Counties SC Northern and Midland Grand Prix on 31st August. Unfortunately they were greeted with flat calm and occasional rain showers.

Thirty helms didn't look through their window on Sunday and crawl back into bed. The day dawned grey and rainy but eventually cleared with a force 2.5 wind to enable three races to be completed with ease.
