Hi all
This is my first sailing dinghy and am new to sailing too. Does anyone have any help with places for parts but more importantly, alterations for solo use and upgrades of existing components - the kicker block has already come free from the mast base. Any help would be much appreciated.

You'll find some part s here.
The 3K is a lot to handle for a 1st boat, what dinghy did you learn with?

Wow, you've dived in at the deep end buying a trapeze-asymmetric as your first boat, but fortunately you've chosen the most benign design of that type available!

You can always give Jeff a ring at Vandercraft for spares - see our home page.

For singlehanding the first thing you'll need is an adjustable-length tiller extension. I've got this one, which works well:

www.roostersailing.com/pd/Ronstan-Telesc...---1770mm_101033.htm

but that's only when you want to use the trapeze on your own. The 3k will sail perfectly well without using the trapeze, provided you ease out the mainsail when the wind causes you to heel over. Maybe best to get used to helming while sitting out before going for the wire.

Personally, I find 'off the boom sheeting' easiest to use, even when on the wire singlehanded using main, jib and spinnaker. Have a look at the upgrades here:

Thank you for responding

I have not helmed as of yet but have been crew in an RS Vision a few times.

This 3k came up and as I like a challenge I went for it.

Thank you for site addresses etc.

How about this kicker scenario though. Can it be upgraded as mine simply pulled away from the mast base.

Also, I'm typing black on black here I presume this can be altered. I'm new so will continue searching

Yes, black on dark grey is a bit tricky, but seems to come with the site. It helps to click the Preview button occasionally. Have you tried brightening your screen?

As to the kicker, if you don't plan on fitting a gnav, then can you not remove the heel plug and bolt the old bracket back in place? My recall of the L3k mast is sketchy, but that's the solution I'd be looking at. Rivets are the devil's work used by people in a hurry! Use plenty of silicon sealant round the bolt holes as you assemble to inhibit further corrosion.
