NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the RYA and the rules of the 3000 Class association, 4000 Class Association, Vortex Class Association and Laser Vago Class Association, Buzz and ISO Class associations.
1.2 Advertising will be extended to Category C.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 Entry is open to all 3000, 4000, Vortex, Buzz, ISO and Laser Vago class boats.
2.2 Competitors may enter by completing an entry form available from the Rutland Sailing Club office on Saturday 14th October 2017.
2.3 Competitors automatically grant the Organising Authority/RSC without payment the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of, or relating to, the regatta, unless otherwise advised in writing prior to the regatta.
2.4 The Entry fee will be £40 for two-handed dinghies and £30 for singlehanders.
If any class associations wish to subsidise their class entry (as has happened in the past), this will be reduced from the entry price.

3. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS & RACING FORMAT
3.1 Sailing instructions will be available at registration and may also be published in advance on the Rutland Sailing Club website (www.rutlandsc.co.uk) and Class Association web sites.
3.2 The regatta will consist of a single series of fleet racing for each class competing.

4. SCHEDULE
4.1 Registration will be held at the Rutland Sailing Club Office from 0900 hrs on Saturday 14th October 2017 and there will be a competitor briefing at 1100 hrs on Saturday 14th October in the clubhouse wet bar.
4.2 Three back to back races are scheduled for Saturday 14th October with the warning signal for the first start of the first race of the day at 11:55 hrs. Three back to back races are scheduled for Sunday 17th October with the warning signal for the first start of the first race of the day at 10:25 hrs.
4.3 Six races are scheduled for each class.
4.4 The order of starts will be confirmed in SI’s

5. Risk Statement
Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”. Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.

6. INSURANCE
6.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3,000,000 per event.

Bar and catering are available on Friday evening – food served from 6.00pm – 8pm and the bar will be open from 5pm. Friday night bar food can be ordered in advance by calling 07990 844288 or 07703 346215.

A two course meal (£11 per head) will be available on Saturday evening which can be pre booked at registration on Saturday morning.
